Why does the monthly prices scheme is discontinued?
The announcement of monthly prices every 20th of the previous month was implemented as part of the Ministry of Energy's emergency measures. Upon expiry of these emergency measures, the State institutes the measure of the new Special Tariff that will be drawn up by Electricity Providers, to protect the energy market during the following year.
When does the announcement of the monthly prices stop and when does the Special Tariff application start?
The last announcement of monthly prices regards the December 2023 prices that were announced on 20/11/2023. The new Special Tariffs will take effect as of 1/1/2024 and will be valid at least for a year by 31/12/2024, in accordance with the Ministry of Energy guidelines.
Shall changes apply for low voltage domestic and business customers?
Correct! The changes apply to all low voltage electricity supply accounts now being under the Monthly Prices scheme. This excludes customers who have Fixed Tariffs or who object to falling under the Special Tariff by 31/1/2024 and indicate their willingness to join another product or remain with their existing product if it remains commercially available.
Will the electricity price remain stable under the Special Tariff?
A big part of your charge is the Basic Pricing of Power Supply which remains fixed for a minimum of 6 months. An amount resulting from the fluctuation mechanism may be added on top of the Basic Pricing of Power Supply to give the Final Pricing of Power Supply. This amount shall fluctuate on the basis of the Electricity Market Clearing Prices of the previous months, calculated in a specific and clear way.
Will the calculation formula of this fluctuation change?
The Fluctuation Mechanism will consistently have the same reasoning which ensures transparency in its calculation. Always guided by transparency and based on the new legislation, the Fluctuation Mechanism coefficients shall remain stable at least for 3 months, while for any change we will inform you 1 month before they are applied.
When will I be informed about the energy price I will pay under the Special Tariff?
The Final Price will be announced by the 1st day of each consumption month on our web page and on the respective web page of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water. For example, on 01/02/2024 the price that will be valid in February 2024 will be announced.
Will there be monthly standing charges in the new special tariffs?
Yes, a standing charge will be applied that will not exceed €5 per month.
Will I have a time commitment in the Special Tariff?
Only fixed price schemes will have a time commitment. Pursuant to the legislation in force, for the Special Tariff, you are entitled to discontinue the contract any time, without any economic encumbrance.
How are Electricity products labeled and how will I understand which product I joined through Protergia?
Each Electricity supply product is marked according to the following color codes:
You may verify the product corresponding to your scheme by checking the respective color marking next to the payable amount on the first page of your bill. A color marking will be used in all our forms, on the products of our web page and on our promotional actions.
I have joined the Social Tariff. Will I continue receiving the discount?
Correct, the Social Tariff discount is normally maintained for all customers who are entitled to it.

What is net metering (self-generation with energy offset)?
As instituted with Ministerial Decision ΑΠΕΗΛ/Α/Φ1/οικ.24461 (Government Gazette B/3583/2014), and in accordance with MD ΥΠΕΝ/ΔΑΠΕΕΚ/15084/382, (GovGaz B/759/2019), the development of photovoltaic systems by self-generators (“prosumers”) involves the installation of fixed photovoltaic systems to meet consumers’ own need for electricity and the application of an energy offset.
Energy offset, or net metering, means that the energy generated by a photovoltaic system is offset against the energy consumed at the premises of the self-generator, and it is calculated on a three-year basis. In net metering, it is not necessary for the energy generated to coincide with the energy consumed.
Who can install a power generation system using net metering?
Those entitled to install such a system are natural persons and legal persons governed by public or private law who either own the space where the system is to be installed, or they have lawful access to it (e.g. through a lease) and have obtained written consent from the owner of the site.
Where the generation system is in a common-use or jointly owned part of a building, one or more systems may be installed, each of which corresponds to just one meter. Those entitled to install a net metering system in this case are the owners of the horizontal properties (flats) or those who have lawful use of them, once they have been granted use of the common-use or jointly owned space or section of the space by the other co-owners.
What are the main terms and conditions for including a consumer in a net metering scheme?
What is the duration of the net metering agreement?
The net metering agreement signed between the provider and the self-generator is for a 25-year term, starting from the date the connection with the photovoltaic system is activated.
In the event of a change in provider after the system’s activation, the net metering agreement with the previous provider is automatically terminated and a new net metering agreement is concluded between the self-generator and the new provider for the balance of the 25-year period.
Similarly, if the contracting customer of the electrical installation changes, a new net metering agreement is concluded for the remaining time period.
When are meter readings taken and when is net metering applied to generated and consumed energy?
Metering of electricity generated by the energy system and the incoming and outgoing energy from and to the grid is undertaken at the same time by the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE), during the current metering cycle which applies to the self-generator’s electrical installation.
The provider applies net metering on the “actual” electricity bills, based on the consumption measured by DEDDIE, according to the metering cycle in effect. In the event that it is not possible to obtain a meter reading on the scheduled metering date, net metering will be applied when the next regular metering takes place.
How are regulated charges applied?
Regulated charges are calculated as follows:
Charges for Services of General Interest are calculated based on the total energy consumption and the corresponding unit charge. If tariffs from different time zones are involved, the total produced and guaranteed energy will be used to calculate the charges for general interest services corresponding only to the normal charge zone (day use charges).

What is the Natural Gas?
It is a natural product found in underground deposits of the earth, whether it is found on its own or coexists with oil deposits. It is a ‘natural energy form’ that can be used without special treatment making perfect combustion in the appropriate devices.
Natural gas is the most environment and human friendly conventional fuel. It is a mixture of hydrocarbons in gaseous state, composed primarily of methane (more than 85%), which is the lightest hydrocarbon, very clean, free from impurities and sulphides
What are the applications of Natural Gas?
The natural gas may be used for:
• Heating
• Hot water supply
• Cooking
• Roasting
• Co-generation (simultaneous production of heating/cooling & electricity)
• Air conditioning
• Number of professional uses (dry cleaning, tinsmithing shops, or goldsmithing centers etc.)
• Production of products in the industry
Why choose Natural Gas?
The use of natural gas in all sectors of consumption offers countless benefits, while contributing to a cleaner environment and enhancing the quality of life of citizens.
• Economy
The natural gas is the most cost-effective option and the best energy investment over time for household and professional use by offering competitive tariffs compared to the conventional forms of energy (oil, electricity, LPG, etc.).
• Find out how much money you can save already from the first year.
• Ease to use The natural gas is available whenever you need it, at any time, through the installed network. You do not need to order it or be ready to pick it up. The operation of natural gas devices is simple and provides comfort and convenience in your daily life (e.g. hot water supply any time)
• Cleaning and space saving
Using natural gas does not require installation of a tank, as it is available through the distribution network, while being free from unpleasant odors and oil residues.

Consumption is measured based on the meter readings, like in the case of electricity and water, while always paying only what has been consumed and after it has been consumed.
• Reduced maintenance costs for devices
The clean combustion of natural gas ensures reduced maintenance costs of devices and longer lifetime.
• Environmentally friendly Natural gas is the cleanest and least polluting conventional fuel. Its combustion produces less carbon dioxide, therefore by replacing the other fuels, it contributes to mitigating the greenhouse effect. It does not contain sulfur compounds that pollute the environment and cause the acid rain phenomenon. Its combustion is clean and practically free from soot and suspended particles, limiting air pollution.
• Safety
Natural gas is absolutely safe to use as:
-It is a perfectly natural product, lighter than air and should it be released into the atmosphere, it is removed immediately. It is odorless but a characteristic odor is added to detect a possible leak. Itis also not toxic, since it does not contain carbon monoxide.
-The natural gas network construction works are carried out according to modern and strict specifications
