Protergia has been designated as a Universal Service Provider since 21/06/2022 in accordance with the Ministerial Decision ΥΠΕΝ/ΔΗΕ/633233/2187/21.06.2022, ‘Designation of electricity Universal Service providers’.

Protergia has been designated as a Universal Service Provider since 21/06/2022 in accordance with the Ministerial Decision ΥΠΕΝ/ΔΗΕ/633233/2187/21.06.2022, ‘Designation of electricity Universal Service providers’. A Universal Service Provider is required (under Law 4001/2011, Government Gazette A΄ 179/22.08.2011) to supply electricity to households and small enterprises with a supply power of up to 25 kVA that are no longer represented by a power supplier and have been inactive regarding the right to free choice of supplier or are unable to find a supplier in the deregulated market under existing commercial conditions. 

A customer is automatically subject to the Universal Service Provider upon termination of representation by the last supplier or upon the expiry of the period of electricity supply in last resort status and if there is no mandate for new representation by a supplier or no request for connection discontinuation by the customer, in accordance with the law, without requiring any action on the part of the subscriber, i.e. without requiring the signing of a contract and the payment of a guarantee. At any time the consumer so wishes, a Supply Contract may be concluded with a Supplier of the customer's preference. The discontinuation of electricity supply by the Universal Service Provider shall take place upon activating the representation statement to the new supplier, as determined by the relevant Operator and communicated to the Universal Service Provider of the consumer’s choice.

The Universal Service shall be provided for a period of two (2) years since the date of the commitment, by virtue of a decision by the Minister of Environment, issued by means of delegated first subparagraph of paragraph 5 of article 58, L. 4001/2011, as in force.

‘Without prejudice to any contrary explicit legislative provision governing the electricity supply under a Universal Service status, pursuant to Article 138, L. 4951/2022, the supply charges contracted to floating tariffs on adjustment clause are not applicable for consumption during the period between 01.08.2022 until 01.07.2023 (as this may be extended or reduced by a recent legislative act. In any event, the applicable Universal Service supply charges are available on this website.’ 
In accordance with ΥΠΕΝ//ΔΗΕ/82792/2782, the applicable Universal Service supply charges are calculated on the basis of the Reference Tariff, incremented by 5% for the month of August and are displayed in the table below. This decision shall apply for the period from 01.08.20222 to 31.08.2022 included.

The applicable Universal Service supply charges are calculated on the basis of the Reference Tariff, incremented by 12% for per Customer category and are detailed in the table above.

These charges apply to consumptions until 31/07/2022

In addition to the above Universal Service supply charges, a unit adjustment fee is applied, as described in Article 3 of the Decision by the Minister of Environment, No. ΥΠΕΝ/ΔΗΕ/6186/194 (Government Gazette Β 420/03.02.2022).

When calculating the applicable Universal Service supply charges, a unit adjustment fee is applied (Y) is applied in €/kWh for
 each month t, calculated on the basis of the following variables:
1. Y= a * x + b, where:
• x: Equal to the numerical average of the Market Clearing Price (MCP) of the Day Ahead Market-DAM of the previous month (t-1), published on the website of the Greek Energy Exchange
 (https://www.enexgroup.gr/el/markets-publications-el-day-ahead-market).
• a: Increase coefficient, equal to 1,15.
• b: Increase coefficient, equal to 0,0115 €/kWh.
2. L_u: Upper reference limit, equal to 0,050 €/kWh.
3. L_d: Lower reference limit, equal to 0,040 €/kWh.
And is equal to:
The charge is equal to Y - L_u, when Y is higher than the upper limit L_u. 
Credit is equal to Y - L_d when Y is less than the lower limit L_d. 
There is a zero charge when Y is within the limits of L_d and L_u.
