Universal Service Provider

A+ A-

Protergia was designated a Universal Service Provider on 23/06/2020, in accordance with Ministry of Environment and Energy Decision ΥΠΕΝ/ΓΔΕ/57469/2612/17.06.2020 (Government Gazette Β/2400/17.06.2020). The Universal Service Provider (pursuant to Law 4001/2011, GovGaz A/179/22.08.2011) is mandated to provide electricity with a capacity of up to 25 kVA to households and small businesses which are no longer served by an electricity provider and have neglected to exercise their right to freely select a provider or are unable to find a provider on the deregulated market under existing commercial terms.

Consumers fall under the Universal Service Provider automatically when they are no longer represented by their most recent provider, or if the duration of service from the supplier of last resort has ended and there is no new representation order by a provider, or the customer has not submitted a request for service termination in accordance with the provisions of the law. No action is required on the part of the subscriber, and it is not necessary to sign an agreement or pay a deposit. Consumers can enter into a supply agreement with the provider of their choice at any point in time. The supply of electricity by the Universal Service Provider ceases when a supply contract is signed with the new provider, and this date is determined by the competent operator and notified to the Universal Service Provider selected by the consumer.

The provision of service is for two (2) years from the date the obligation is assumed, pursuant to the decision of the Ministry of Environment, issued as authorised by the first indent of Article 58(5) of Greek Law 4001/2011, as in force.

The applicable universal service supply charges are based on the reference tariff, increased by 12% per customer category, and are broken down in the table below:
